The Bethany College men's basketball team was selected to finish 11th in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll announced Tuesday afternoon.
W&J was selected as the league-favorites. Geneva was selected to finish second, followed by Chatham. Thiel and Westminster tied for fourth to round out the top-five.
Under second year head coach Mike Worrell, the Bison look to improve from a 2-20 (2-14 PAC) record last season. The team returns nine, led by senior Derek White Jr (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond-Suffolk Academy), who was named as a PAC Player to Watch this season. The Bison will have 13 newcomers this season, led by transfers Chance Wright (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Aloysius) and Chance Wells (Wooster, Ohio / Hiram) and freshman forwards Cole Dailey (East Liverpool, Ohio / East Liverpool) and Cody Davis (Columbia Station, Ohio / Columbia).
White Jr. returns as one of the Bison toughest defenders. He currently sits in the top-five on Bethany's all-time career records lists for assists and blocks. He has 325 career assists and 94 blocks.
The Bison will open the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, Nov. 8 against Penn State-Fayette for a 7 pm tipoff.
